We have had a VERY adventurous weekend (to say the least)! My good friend, Rhonda, and her family have been here all weekend, and we have had several “firsts” for the boys (both hers and ours). First ride on the Light Rail, first Colorado Rockies game, first run through a rainstorm after the Rockies (won their) game, first trip to the emergency vet since having Max and Wes…oh my!
The game was great (as great as baseball can be, we’re more into football and basketball in the Mastera home) – all four of the boys had SO much fun cheering on the hometeam during a beautiful Mile High night.

It was soooo nice having some “helpers” here over the weekend – it’s going to be rough getting back into the routine of things without other people to hold, feed, and play with Max and Wes! The boys already miss their little buddies, Slater and Jake (and their parents, Rhonda and Chris), and I miss them, too – our house is actually CLEANER after they left, than it was before they got here (thanks Slater and Rhonda)!

My Mom and Dad were in town for the Antiques Roadshow, and stopped by to visit for a little bit on Sunday (they also watched the boys on Friday night while Jeff and I were at a wedding – congrats Shawna and Jeff!). They were very surprised to see how big Slater and Jake had gotten (they hadn’t seen them since Jeff and I’s wedding almost 6 years ago!), and very excited to spend a little time with their grandsons. At my Mom’s request, I’m not posting any pics of her holding the boys because they aren’t very flattering (you’re welcome, Mom).

And our big excitement for the weekend was when we had to rush Rex to the emergency vet last night (at 10:30) because he snagged his nail on a shopping bag in our bedroom. Thankfully, our friends offered to stay home with the boys so Jeff and I could take Rex together, because we were in the emergency room for 3 hours. Slater and Rhonda were also kind enough to pick up the upstairs and clean up all of the bloody pawprints that Rex tracked all over the carpet and laminate floors. Thanks you guys! Rex is totally fine now, and I don’t have one ounce of regret for taking him in during emergency (read – expensive) hours. I do think I jinxed us when I was just talking about how Rex only has to go to the vet at night and on weekends, when it’s the most expensive – dammit!
They had to remove the entire nail because it had been ripped too far off, so he’s a little mopey today (from the pain medication). He goes back to the vet later this week to check the healing, but in the meantime, he has a cool “cast” on, and is forced to wear a lampshade. Poor little Rexy!

I hope you all had a fantastic weekend!

I’m glad you guys had a good weekend! I hope Rex is feeling better. Asher cried when I told him Max and Wes weren’t coming today! I had to promise they would come on Wednesday (I may have said that they were bringing ice cream… oh well!).

Cute pics, and poor Rexie!
It’s so fun to see pics of Rhonda and the fam – I can’t believe how big Slater and Jake are! Sounds like they were fantastic house guests, too!
